Our client, involved in diagnostics, is looking to recruit a Health Care Assistant (temp to perm basis) to work initially every Thursday near Watford (although additional days may be required).  Other sites may also potentially need covering, every 4-6 weeks at present, (although these are getting busier and will need cover more frequently).

You will be required to provide the highest levels of customer service, support and care for service users within a multidisciplinary setting.  You will be expected to undertake tasks, under general supervision, in order to ensure day to day smoothness and efficiency. 

Training will be given to ensure issues of equality, diversity and rights are dealt with in accordance with good practice and legislation.

Key Duties:

  • Promoting a positive service user experience through proactive listening, being responsive to issues raised and resolving issues and concerns raised by service users and colleagues and senior members of the team
  • Being responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards service users, carers, colleagues and other agencies at all times
  • Participating in working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary teams to provide seamless care for service users
  • Demonstrating empathy, dignity, respect and compassion at all times
  • Observing and reporting, to a registered member of the team, any changes which may indicate an alteration in the general wellbeing and safety of a service user
  • Understanding the importance of contribution and care to relatives/carers and conversing with the service users and their relatives/carers, establishing their needs and assisting them as necessary
  • Ensuring the working environment is clean and tidy at all times
  • Ensuring good working relationships with colleagues by contributing to the effective running of the service, engaging in discussions and completing all required training (also attending appropriate meetings)
  • Ensuring any faults or issues are reported accordingly in a timely manner
  • Ensuring the mobile unit is set up and ready for scanning patients beforehand
  • Ensuring patients receive the best possible care following safe procedures
  • Participating in the annual appraisal process
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and following guidelines for the prevention and control of infection
  • Reporting any incidents of harm or near miss in line with the incident reporting policy, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk of re-occurrence
  • Contributing to the identification, management and reduction of risk in the area of responsibility
  • Ensuring day to day practice reflects the highest standards of governance, clinical effectiveness, safety and patient experience


Special Requirements / Additional Information: 
  • Educated to GCE/GCSE (Maths and English) or equivalent
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and written, including IT literacy (MS Office)
  • Enthusiastic, with the ability to work long hours
  • Ability to show appropriate professional and personal boundaries
  • Ability to behave in a professional manner, enabling good team working
  • An awareness of own limitations as well as the ability to work independently
  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A clean and tidy appearance (essential) – a uniform and name badge will be supplied
  • An awareness of safeguarding issues with the ability to carry out physical interventions when required, whilst maintaining a positive approach to everyone
