This is a full time, permanent position.

Our client, a respected and successful leading manufacturer serving the retail, food shipment market and pharmaceutical sectors is looking for a full time Machine Setter / Warehouse Operative to join their team.   This very busy, full-on role would suit a self-motivated and driven individual, capable of working on his/her own initiative with minimal supervision.  As a Machine Setter you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and speedy transition of orders, maintaining an accurate product is set and quality maintained before and after machine and product are set and confirmed.

Key Responsibilities would be:

  • Complete tool changing and setting-up in a timely manner
  • Optimising cycle speeds ensuring quality specification is achieved
  • Diagnosing and correcting running faults in a timely manner
  • Maintenance and general up keep of the machines
  • Assisting the QC/QA Team in identifying issues and suggesting corrective actions
  • Effectively communicating any issues that arise with the Factory Manager, Production Director or QC/QA Manager
  • Ensuring Health and Safety procedures and practices are adhered to
  • Accurately completing set up in accordance with QC/QA controlled procedures
  • Actively participating in continuous improvement, projects and training
  • Ensuring good housekeeping at all times and maintaining the general keep up and tidiness of the factory
  • Promoting team work
  • Warming machines up, ensuring all operational for planned start time
  • Ensuring correct materials are used in accordance with the QC/QA procedures
  • First-off quality acceptance with QC/QA Manager, Production Manager or Production Director in accordance with QC/QA Controls and procedures
  • Assisting in continual monitoring of product during manufacture for both weight, material type, leaks and other quality issues
  • Continually working on improvements to ensure the fastest time through production
  • Preventative maintenance on machines during break times and out of standard hours to ensure the machines operate continuously for the planned times
  • As and when required, working as a production operative

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Relevant City and Guilds, or a mechanical aptitude, or relevant engineering experience
  • Machine setting/repairs
  • Quality inspection
  • Knowledge of the food industry
  • Knowledge of continual improvement programmes
  • Experience of working towards targets / KPIs
