Our client, a UK leader within their industry, is currently recruiting for a Spiral Operator / Relief Warehouse Operative, to join their friendly and busy team in High Wycombe. Duties will include spiral tube production, using the spiral tube forming machine, the close monitoring of both spiral and raw material stocks, the timely production of products to meet demand and delivery requirements, general maintenance and cleaning of spiral forming machine and generally working within systems and procedures laid down by the company.  In addition, duties will include the correct storage of stocked goods, the continual rotation of stocked items, the picking and preparing for despatch of customer/transfer orders, the safe loading and unloading of vehicles, the close monitoring of stocks, maintaining good housekeeping of the warehouse.

Key Duties:

  • Producing spirally wound tube of the highest quality, ensuring tubes are stored in a safe/proper manner
  • Ensuring a complete manual of operation is left and that necessary spare parts are on hand to deal with routine servicing problems as they occur
  • Following proper spills procedures, dealing with all spills and build-up of cutting fluid promptly
  • Carrying out and completing regular general maintenance as defined in the Spiral Machine Maintenance Task sheet, logging the completion of these tasks
  • Receiving/accurately processing  all Goods-In, checking them for quantity and quality, progressing them to completion
  • Receiving/accurately processing all site picking lists, checking picked items for accuracy/quantity/quality, progressing them to completion
  • Picking/packing goods for despatch, checking accuracy, correcting goods, quantity and quality of goods.  Operation may including manual handling, climbing up and down safety steps, using forklift trucks, pallet trucks
  • Safe loading/unloading of vehicles
  • If trained/instructed to do so, receiving/processing customers’ orders at the trade counter, progressing them to completion
  • Liaising with other branches on stock transfers/transferred orders, keeping the site and/or customers informed at all times on items such as delivery, shortages, completions, ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Maintaining good stock control, stock monitoring and stock rotation
  • Ensuring a clean and safe warehouse working environment at all times
  • Ensuring a pre-shift inspection is completed for all forklifts and a log of inspections is available for inspection at any time
  • Accurately counting/recording items of stock for the purposes of snap shot, month end, ad hoc/discretionary stock counts or annual stock takes/stock counts
  • Responding to site/customers’ needs in the appropriate way to maximise potential sales opportunities, maintaining good customer relations
  • Showing a continued commitment to develop product knowledge, attending training courses/presentations/seminars/factory visits as and when required to do so
  • Maintaining company confidentiality
Special Requirements: 
  • Experience of working in a similar role and/or warehouse environment
  • An NVQ 2 in Warehouse & Storage (an advantage)
  • Forklift Truck experience (Counterbalance and/or Reach). Current licences would be an advantage but not essential as in-house training will be provided
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • The ability to follow instructions, to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Able to work effectively as a part of a team but also independently
  • To be proactive, self-motivated, accurate, flexible and willing to learn new skills
  • Hold a full clean UK driving licence
